AMAL

ABOUT US

We’ve all been there: you see a fascinating article or book online. You begin reading it, just to be stopped by a paywall, you don’t understand the language, don’t know all the cases referred to or don’t have enough time, so you stop there.

With AMAL, it never stops.
Welcome to the world of international law!

AMAL is an online platform designed to make knowledge about international law open to everyone, and democratise complex research by presenting it in an accessible, innovative way.

The Association for Multinational Action in Law (AMAL) aims to invite students, young legal professionals, and anyone curious, to participate in discussions about international law, and share their unique perspectives.
Globalisation is transforming legal systems worldwide, and understanding this impact on our daily lives is critical. International law is influencing domestic legal systems: through international organisations and instituitons,  multilateral treaties and conventions as well as soft-law.

AMAL is a platform designed to help you navigate this complex landscape. It is a project made by international students, for international students.

AMAL is a free platform for education and discussion to expand worldviews and raise awareness.

AMAL bridges a significant gap that currently separates people from legal research and scholarship. Groundbreaking research findings in the world of international law are often only accessible to the few: those who have a base level of knowledge necessary to understand it, those with university education confirming their status in the legal community or those who have financial resources to access articles and books behind a pay-wall. Unfortunately, that is a small, privileged minority. This means that the vast majority of people, even if they are curious about recent legal developments or their rights, may encounter significant obstacles when attempting to obtain this knowledge.

AMAL opens the door to the world of international law wide, to anyone curious to enter. The audio format in our podcast presents cutting-edge research in a conversational, accessible way. Scholars invited as guest speakers explain their research in a dialogue with one of the founders. This form of presenting research is far more accessible than other mediums.

AMAL manages to overcome glass ceilings to participation in legal discussions, enabling anyone interested to interact with legal research and ideas. Our platform also gathers a network of like-minded people, creating a diverse, global community.

Sounds great, right?
